Mopay hands out more than £13,000 at the Gadget Show Live

Mopay is celebrating handing out £13,736.50 to people who recycled old phones and iPods at the Gadget Show Live.

The mobile phone and iPod recycling business appeared at the show at Birmingham’s NEC for four days from April 7-11. Visitors attended the mopay stand in their hundreds to exchange their handsets for cash.

The most popular phone handed in was the Nokia N95 8GB. The most popular iPod traded in at the show was the iPod Classic 30GB 4 Gen.

More than 65,000 visitors flooded the NEC over the four days of the show. Mopay exhibited alongside top brands including LG, Sony, Panasonic, Nintendo, TomTom, HP, PC World, 3Mobile, Epson and Garmin.

Simon Walsh, co founder of mopay, said: "We had a fantastic time at the Gadget Show Live with visitors keen to swap their phones and iPods for cash and pick up the latest gadgets from the show. It is estimated there are more than 100 million phones and iPods combined lying around in UK drawers and cupboards. If everyone recycled their old mobiles through a recycler the British economy world receive a £420 million boost."
